Palm Beach Motor Yachts, the renowned builder of contemporary, high-tech, luxury yachts ranging from 45 to 65 feet, announces the launch of the new Palm Beach 42 (PB 42). Hewing closely to the philosophy that has vaulted the company into prominence over the last decade, the PB 42 blends superb contemporary styling, state-of-the-art construction, luxurious custom finishes and furnishings, and breathtaking performance in a highly desirable, prestigious yacht.

“The Palm Beach 42 redefines expectations for luxury in a compact yacht,” said Mark Richards, the founder of Palm Beach Motor Yachts. “We think yachtsmen will be more than impressed by the capabilities, comfort and luxury found on board the 42.”

Richards oversees the design and construction of every new Palm Beach to ensure they meet his demanding standards. Elegance is evident everywhere one looks on the PB 42, from her sweptback cabin and windscreen lines to her beautifully molded, sculptural tumblehome. Take a close look at the teak that accents the end of the house on the aft deck, as well as the interior teak furniture. Each Palm Beach is not just another pretty face tied to the dock. Richards demands that mechanical systems are designed for simplicity and ease of maintenance. Flawlessly fit and finished to perfection, it is the most obvious marker of the craftsmanship that is the hallmark of every Palm Beach Motor Yacht.

The PB 42 is available with either one or two staterooms, depending on the owner’s requirements. The yacht can be a single helm express layout with an upper or lower galley, or a twin helm flybridge layout with a lower galley. The master stateroom with private ensuite head is located forward on each layout, furnished with a king size berth.

Natural light and ventilation flood the saloon, which is wide open to the aft deck thanks to power-actuated side and aft windows. There are excellent sightlines all around for the helmsman and guests. A wet bar separates the saloon seating from the aft deck seating, but serves either position equally well. Comfortable Ultraleather upholstery, satin-finished solid teak furniture and bulkhead panels, and a custom Silestone counter all contribute to the visual richness of the saloon in the galley-up version. Richards and Palm Beach’s dedicated sales team will also work with each customer to ensure every new model reflects the owner’s taste and yachting lifestyle.

Following the company’s commitment to excellent performance, the PB 42 features a low center of gravity, semi-displacement hull shape that is lightweight but strong, built using the latest technology in composite boat construction. The hull and superstructure are cored with Corcell and Airex foam, encased in a sandwich comprised of vinylester and epoxy resins, E-glass and stitched multi-axial fabrics. DuFlex paneling is also used to further stiffen the structure.

The PB 42 measures 14.3 meters (47’) LOA, 13.1 meters (43’) on deck, has a beam of 4.485 meters (14’8”) and a draft of just 860 mm (2’10”). She carries 1,200 liters of fuel (317 US gallons) and 480 liters of water (125 US gallons). Powered by twin 435-horsepower Volvo Penta IPS 600 diesels, the PB 42 is projected to cruise around 30 knots and have a top speed of 36 knots.

“The new PB42 is one of the most spacious boats in its class, with one of the best layouts I have seen in a boat this size,” said Mark Richards. “It is a beautifully performing boat with speeds well over 30 knots depending on selected propulsion. Most importantly, the build quality is absolutely second to none, and we’re able to offer this yacht with a competitive base price.”
